The oceanic climate of Pas-de-Calais is mild and wet near the coast and cooler inland.
Whether you go on foot or by bike, simply enjoying the beautiful landscapes is a pleasure in itself. Understanding how the holes are formed, how the migratory birds behave, will enhance your visit!

You won’t always be able to see the animals. Most mammals and birds don’t like the afternoon heat, nor crowds of walkers. So if you want to observe the wildlife, you’ll have to be quiet and patient.

NATURE WALKS

MONT SAINT-FRIEU
To the song of the lark, come and wander through the dunes and fields at the foot of Mont Saint-Frieux. From its 151 metre summit, you can see the English coast and Normandy cliffs.

THE CANCHE BAY
480 species of plants and countless animals (deer, rabbits, thousands of birds, including the emblematic shelduck) live in harmony in the Canche Bay nature reserve. You will be surprised by the diversity of the fresh and sea water landscape. Several hides have been built on the Tadorne footpath, from which, with a bit of patience, you can get excitingly close to nature.

THE DUNES OF THE AUTHIE BAY
These narrow dunes, lying in Picardy to the south of Berck-sur-Mer, are the arrow of sand of the old Arche estuary that is now silted up. Here you can find wild scenery, eroded by the tidal currents in the north part of the Authie estuary.
